The feedback from Sunday’s sermon, “Calvary CSI”, has been amazing! Emails have flooded in with comments from staff, and people in the halls are still talking about it. The general feedback has been that it was a great sermon and every member should have it as one of my “classics.” First, I want to thank all of you who have responded so wonderfully to the message. It does the heart of a preacher and pastor well when people are receiving the message. The main idea of the sermon was to help all of us realize what it truly means when we say that “Jesus gave” his life. I will not give the entire sermon away, but if you were not in service or do not have a copy of it, I would encourage you to get a copy from the Media Ministry. You may order a copy by calling the church at 901-729-6222, click here to purchase on-line or you can purchase it when you are here on Sunday. It is a must have sermon.
I want the church family to know that such quality preaching only happens with the support of the entire worship team that intentionally and prayerfully support the message. I want to thank Leo Davis and the choir for the music that truly lifts the heart of the preacher and the people and makes it really easy to preach because the atmosphere has been set, as well as Rod Vester and the band. Then, I want to thank Veda Bankhead and the entire media team who provide support through sound, video, and great lighting to make the message relevant to this present time. Then there are the Ushers, Greeters, and Security Team. I want to thank the pastors, in particular, Bell, Pitts, and Law, who said, “Pastor, you need to do something cutting edge, like a series on CSI.” They birthed the concept of “CSI: Calvary.” All I had to do was fill in the blanks. I want to thank the “Silent Saints,” what you know as our Deaf ministry for all of their support. And then there is the marketing and communications team – the operations and custodial staff. There are so many who make up this “team” effort that I would be here all day trying to say thank you.
This message is written to emphasize the importance of team. What you heard Sunday was not a solo act. It was the result of many people pursuing the same goal, without a concern about who will get the credit. The team laid the groundwork with which my gifts could operate. I am thankful for this team. It is a great joy to work with this team. Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church does not take for granted this team. Please pray for them and support them with your prayers, attendance, and finances. This team really does have as its heart’s desire that you would be blessed to receive the Spirit of God.

Pastor, Sunday's sermon was beyond words. I couldn't contain myself as I sat on the pulpit. I just wanted to jump up, run, and holler! When we first conceived the CSI idea, it had yet to be revealed how God would live it out in our midst. I think that the Wednesday night lessons were "previews" of the Sunday sermon. It was like anticipation building up little by little, and bit by bit! The way we knocked down suspect after suspect on Wednesdays just led us to the climax on Sunday morning. I had NO IDEA that "Motive, Opportunity, and Evidence" would live out in such AMAZING ways. I thank God for you and the way you integrate the head and the heart. Each person in that sanctuary was challenged theologically and inspired! It was a wonderful thing to see and experience! Blessings to you, Pastor Janae www.rjanaepitts.org
Pastor Janae,What a powerful sermon! I too was ready to jump from the balcony, another crime scene! lol. You see you positioned the sermon just like a forensic pathologist, something that my daughter is studying to become. So we are no strangers about having to collect evidence, looking at possible leads, but we have never consider the crusifixation in that manner! What I had considered that God himself had a plan for his son and he not only wrote the script but selected the characters! another sermon.Well our daughter was present that weekend, heard the sermon and made the connection. Not only was there a connection, but a resurrection and a new meaning for her purpose on earth!I am feeling the help of the Holy Spirit coming upon me right now and If I continue to write more I will create a disturbance in my office, so let me just say, well done and Amen!
